Founder of “Trans Behind Bars” & Former Lieutenant of Juvenile Corrections.
Hello, I am Jahson Ameen Abdul-Waddod (He/Him). I was born and raised in Georgia. South Side is where I grew up, East point off fort valley. I didn’t know I would become the man I am today, but I am grateful for the opportunity and journey this life has brought me. My passion is to touch the souls of the one’s that can’t be touch. My occupation consists of being a man with many hats. For example, I loved being a Lt. in a correctional setting, however, I no longer work in this career. Moreover, my experience in corrections is the main reason why I am working hard to bring my vision “Trans Behind Bars” into reality. The reason why “Trans Behind Bars” is essential is because the are too many uncertainties and safety issues concerning Transgender inmates. I had to trade my badge for an inmate number. So, I know it’s more of us that need help. And I want to be that person that contributes to change and provides a solution that is affirming and creates a safe space for transgender inmates.
